"When all is taken from one, the only hope that remains is what is given by another. Through this giving, both are redeemed."
Regeltavok Oorpah - Book 2, Entry 1,071, Item 54
Eder Gira was written during the "Garden Binge" of the 8100's along with Eder Kemo and numerous others.
Though the Age was given to the D'ni general population by the Lords of the time, Gira was quickly discovered to house a number of animals, a native population, and archaeological records of varying kinds. The Age was removed from general access and given to various study groups.
The actual Age of Eder Gira is much larger than the portion that was initially released to the public. The outlying areas are diverse and surprisingly different to the already opened area.

Appearance
The initial area of Eder Gira is a rocky almost barren area sculpted by years of lava eruptions and flows. Large columns of red cracked rock surround the area effectively cutting off access to the outer areas of the Age. Large bones of as of yet unknown animals litter the area. A small pool of water is fed by several waterfalls with a small stream leading off of it. There is some degree of flora and fauna in the area but not to the extent of the outer areas of Eder Gira. Geothermal power is derived from the lava in the Age via pipes that connect to a building upon one of the cliffs it is currently unknown if the architecture there is of D'ni origin or if it was established by the native population.
The outer area of the Age is covered by a canopy of trees. Large grey spires of rock rise from the ground. Standing at the edge of the initial area of Eder Gira one can see a village far in the distance. No contact has been made with the natives by the explorer community. Unfortunately not a lot is known about the outer regions of Eder Gira due to lack of exploration but it is known that there is a species of creatures that feed off of steam vents over a long period of time.
The Journey
Eder Gira is one of the Ages involved in The Journey set up by Yeesha. Unlike Ages like Teledahn or Kadish Tolesa which have their own Bahro Doors, Eder Gira shares its part of the journey with Eder Kemo with Journey Cloths in both of these Ages opening the Bahro Door in Eder Kemo.
