Steven Ross’ Journal
September 15, 2006 — Bumped into Keith today during a visit to the City. Its been a while since I’ve seen him around, understandable really. He’s busy being a DRC Liaison and restoring Tefoonetahn and I have been busy with my work.
We wondered around the city and the hoods for a while then went back to his Relto so I could look over his classification notes he’s been working on. Progress is good he’s almost done and ready to publish.
I need to plan a trip to the surface.
September 20, 2006 — Received a message from Keira the other day asking for a meeting in the Tehren Neighbourhood today.
Haven’t been to this hood in along time, it was strange being back there with all its history. Keith was already there waiting for people to arrive when I got there, Sophie linked in a few minutes after myself then Keira arrived shortly after. Was nice to see everyone again, mind you I see Keith regularly anyway. But I haven’t seen Keira since The Third Path disbanded and as for Sophie, well it’s been even longer.
Keira wants to start the Restorers Guild back up again, it seems that she has found various items that could do with some work being done on them. Keith is hesitant about rejoining the Guild, he has offered to host and build the website however, guess we shall see how it goes. Sophie and myself agreed to return, truth be told I have been missing the old days.
January 5, 2007 — Heading back down into the Cavern later today, seems I have missed a lot whilst I have been gone
- Mass linking of everyone back to their Reltos
- The DRC opening up various area’s of D’ni
- New items appearing in Relto and the Ages.
- The Introduction with Cate Alexander
Apparently the DRC are going to get a new Age released next week, I am expecting it to be Eder Delin, wonder if I can use some of my old resources to go and take a look where the DRC are keeping the books to it and see which Age it will be.
January 24, 2007 — Recovering from a cold, exploring cold places without a jacket is unwise.
It didn’t take long for the others to open the Delin door, guess they started upon the new Journey. Not sure where it leads at the moment, but I need to get to Tsogahl, Keith tells me that there are cloths and a door their too.
Bumped into a few explorers in Delin, Yali and vid I believe they were called, shortly before I had a meeting with Keira and the others. The DRC had given them a Delin book for the Restorers Guild Hood so we went there to open the door for the other guild members to go through.
February 1, 2007 — Heading to the surface tomorrow with Keira and Sophie to get some supplies. Should be gone for a couple of days depending on how well things go.
An expedition into the City Proper has been planned for after the return (hence the supplies). It’s been a while since I have ventured over into that area.
February 5, 2007 — We managed to get most of the supplies we needed, Keira went off to get the few remaining items and has yet to return.
Hope she has a good reason for being gone 3 days, we have had to delay the trip up into the City Proper.
February 6, 2007 — Keira finally returned, with her husband Joe in tow, seems there was an emergency with her family which she had to dash off to deal with.
So we returned to Tehren, its been a while since Joe was last in D’ni a lot has changed since then so I guess we shall have to give him the tour, don’t even think he has taken The Journey definitely need to show him Tefoonetahn.
The trip to the City Proper has been delayed until next week.
March 7, 2007 — Returned to the Cavern today, been up on the surface at the hospital. Turns out he broke his arm, Keira was furious, not surprisingly.
Off to Tefoonetahn tomorrow with Keira to see if it passes Phase 1.
August 4, 2007 — Haven’t written in months. To long spent at the Barracks setting things up, that place is looking great though.
Long meeting today in Tehren, not sure why we still hold meetings there given we have the Barracks now, old habits die hard I guess. Phil Henderson of all people returned today, guess I owe Keith $50, he always said Phil would return. Didn’t come with promises of meadows to skip through though. Bahro war is vast, spreading out even to Releeshahn, Keith thinks they are hunting down all the D’ni survivors. “The Stache” said war is coming to the cavern, got a lot of people worried in the guild. Many are leaving, Joe and Keira too, this is going to slow work down on our projects so badly.
I can understand it, I am worried too, not sure if I will stay or go. Course I have no where to go on the surface anymore, would we even be safe there anyway?
Keith is staying, not sure about Soph, she didn’t attend the meeting, I expect she will. She’s not one to shy away, learned that when she went after James Rofen.
Troubling times ahead.
October 28, 2007 — Work on the Barracks is going well, the place looks more like a village now. I have set up my little place, actually thinking of moving in permanently. We have also started venturing out and exploring more of the surrounding Age, the place his pretty huge. Sophie was talking about rigging up some kind of aerial survey to see how big the surrounding area actually is.
December 18, 2007 — Taking some time out from Ter’ni, Sophie is thinking of speaking to Victor when he is around next about the Lattice and the KI, she had an idea about routing data through it so we wouldn’t have to keep making the trips to exchange data from the Tehren computers and the other “offworld” computers.
Keith came back from Noloben last night with Whilyam. He’s been pretty deep into researching the Bahro, so decided, whilst the Bahro Nekisahl are away, to go and investigate Esher’s lab. Freaked me out to come into Tehren and find a Bahro corpse sat on the table, a souvenir from Noloben, not sure what he is planning on doing with it, was sent to Ter’ni to be put into cold storage.
Think I might head up to the surface for a day or two, been a long while since I was there last.
July 14, 2008 — I have been working for some time on my first Age. I think I am now at the point where I can start copying it into the Korteenea.
I have plans drawn up for the Age once the initial Link has taken place, I have had to make them somewhat flexible, the thing about Writing Ages is that sometimes the result is different to what you had in mind when Writing.
If old man Kadish was around I think he would appreciate the plans I have in mind.
July 15, 2008 — Was up all night writing the book, finished it at about eight this morning and promptly headed over to get it checked out for any issues.
Got the book back an hour ago everything is good to go. Myself and Keith suited up and made the initial Link to the Age.
The usual TTP protocol kicked in as soon as we arrived on the Age. Air samples are taken, immediate area is surveyed for signs of hostilities or structural issues in the environment. The Age is carved out of a valley of rock so I couldn’t see any signs of native life form. Given the nature of the Age we did spend a little longer checking out the structure, will have to have one of the specialists come in and check it over.
We didn’t stay long, had to get the air sample back to the labs. From my initial glance I know this Age is going to fit the plans just fine, I even had an idea for the waterfall.
Once the sample is given the all clear I’ll return and start sorting out the development.
July 16, 2008 — Samples came back as all OK. Work can now progress on the Age.
