Cass Notebook

Cass Book of Commentary
Author: K.Lord

The Book has finally been completed. Today we Linked through to make the initial visit and collect the regular samples (air, water, rock/soil etc) to make sure the Age is safe.
The Link in area proved to be a lot smaller than I had anticipated, not surprising, my experience with the Art has often showed me that what is written in the Book and what is actually there can often be different.
We Linked to a small cave, there was no light source anywhere so we had to drop some firemarbles down.

The rock seems to be pretty dense, it took a little work getting some samples, but it would seem that the cave walls are strong and secure.

We’ve returned, the tests were all ok so we can begin work. I spent the morning going over the plans again to see if we can work it out in the location we have. We’ll need to shore away at the cave walls to expand the area to fit everything.

The plan is to have an area where people can come to learn the Art (hence the name Tochoortahv). We hope to provide documents which would teach the basis for Age writing, the Garohevtee etc. Then have lesson Ages that people can read through then visit to see how the text used to Write the Age fits up with what is exactly in the Age. Sophie and her team have started working on an Imager based on the technology found at The Cleft so that we can record help and advice which people can then play back.

Work has been progressing thanks to the help of D’ni technology. The base of the room is taking shape, the design for the finishing needs to be finalized.

Steven is currently working to craft some Book pedestals for the Age.

I was tempted to go with a red theme for Tochoortahv, it seemed somewhat logical given that the Age is dedicated to Writing, and the Guild of Writers colours are red and black. In the end, however, I decided that the Age was giving me more of a blue vibe, so that ended up being the colour of choice.
I have finalized the designs and have started working with the others to decorate the room.
Alice Dixon and her team have come in to lay the flooring, complete with blue trim.

Steven has finished the three pedestals needed for the Orth, Artas and Tailehn Books.

Unfortunately Sophie has been having some set backs with the Imager.

That aside, the room is starting to look fantastic, we have just finished cutting the bookshelf for all the documents.

We have also decided to send out a few advanced Linking Books out to some people, not sure if we will end up doing that to all the Books we release.

The room has finally come together. The documents regarding Age writing were brought in today and placed on the shelf. The guys did a great job formating the information we had and organizing it into an easy to read fashion.
We’ve also placed Linking Books for Orth, Artas and Tailehn on the pedestals.

Sophie has reported that her team has ran into problem after problem and the Imager will not be ready in time. We cannot postpone the release of the Age indefinitely until the Imager is released, so we shall go ahead and release the Age, the Imager can always be added later if needs be.

It’s done. Finally after all these years of working on stuff, we finally have a location that we can release to the public.
Recently we discovered a painting of Ri’neref in the Ae’gura museum, which I have been restoring. The painting was completed and I have decided to place it in Tochoortahv where the Imager was set to go. This serves two reasons, 1. that area looked so bare without the imager and 2. Ri’neref was thought to be one of the greatest D’ni Writers and his portrait being in Tochoortahv seems right to me.

What the hell happened here?
All the documents have been burned, the Age books, I’m surprised the damn painting is in one piece still.
Jadam had said that the place had been burned, but I didn’t think for one minute it would be to this extent.

Curious thing is, there is some D’ni text on the wall. I need to get Steven in here to translate it.

Who could do such a thing?

It is disheartening to say the least, to spend so much time building something and having it messed up by someone(s). The initial investigation seems that the fire was started on purpose, this is further backed up by the text that Erik and Whilyam translated

“Outsiders will not learn the Art”

So the question I am asking myself is this; are we seeing an act carried out by a D’ni survivor?

An in depth investigation is taking place, hopefully we’ll get some answers.

Looking over the mess that has been left. We’re not sure what we plan to do with the Age now, the council feels that it would be foolish to try and put all the documentation and what not back in the Age only for it to be destroyed again.

Vid recently raised a point about the text, that it seemed odd that it was carefully carved into the wall, not rushed or done in paint.
Combined with a conversation with Szark makes me wonder if this was done by someone D’ni or done by someone else and made to look like it was done by someone D’ni.

Tochoortahv has been handed over to me. Have a few ideas mulling around that I’m thinking about expanding on, nothing solid yet.

Drawn some plans out for the expansion of Tochoortahv. Sophie and a sounder team have come in to check the surrounding rock for possible expansion.
Apparently there is a large cave to the south that we can expand into, it’s only about a meter or two away from the initial Link in point.

Started cleaning up the room.

Expansion has started, we’ve breached the second cave, the size will serve the purpose well I believe.

Tailehn Book appears to be missing, unless it was in the pile of burnt books. The other books have been cleaned out and we’ve been scrubbing the room down.

Going to remove the book shelf I think, not much point it being there.

Unexpected results from the far southern wall of the new cave. We’re not sure what the deal is there. Going to drill through and see what is on the other side. Keira recommended sealing off the Link in point just in case.

Just as well we sealed the Link in point off, the cave was flush up against the ocean, as we drilled through the water pressure ruptured the wall flooding the second cave.

We’re now bracing the wall to keep the water out so we can pump the water out.

The ocean water is being held back and the pumps are working away clearing the water out.
Modified the designs for the second room to include a window that looks out under the ocean.
Returned to the Link in point to finish sorting it out. I decided to put up duplicates of the Ae’gura Museum paintings up with the Ri’neref one. I also kept one of the pedestals out and cleaned it up which will house the book of commentary for the Age.

Work is progressing nicely on the second room, or the hall as I’ve taken to calling it. Sealed door has been uninstalled as the area is secured from flooding, however some canvas sheeting has been put up to hopefully deter people from venturing into the work area.

It’s been a busy day today.

This book of commentary has been set in it’s new home for people to read.
Tochoortahv is now serving a new purpose, as a result I decided to rename the Age to Cass, after the street name of the first house my wife and I lived in together.

Cass will be serving as my home away from home, a place where I can Write and conduct my studies, and eventually house my Archive.
