Tehren

Tehren grew up in the poorer districts of D'ni. His mother loved him greatly but the relationship with his father was less loving. His father saw Tehren as yet another mouth to feed in an already too large family (Tehren was 1 of 3 brothers, the youngest, and both his Father's family and mother's family resided with them in a very cramped house) and spent a lot of his time drinking and complaining about Tehren.

Tehren tried to spend as much time out of the house as possible and away from his father. He and his friends would steal aboard boats and ride them over to Ae'gura to cause mischief.

On one such occasion Tehren wound up getting into a fight with a young boy, Mehr, who mocked his appearance. The young boy's father Corban arrived to investigate the situation and after speaking with Tehren took pity on him.

Corban approached Tehren's family and offered to adopt him as his second son. Tehren's father agreed it was one less mouth to feed and he felt little love towards the boy. The mother was heart broken at the thought of losing her child but recognized that Tehren would have a better life this way, thus agreed also.

Tehren moved to Ae'gura and was enrolled in the Guild of Bookmakers. Tehren was at first resented by Mehr who saw Tehren as an usurper for his parents affections and constantly mocked Tehren for his upbringing. Tehren would often get into fights and into trouble with his adoptive parents. After a long talk with Corban Tehren realized as his mother had that this was an opportunity to make something for himself, to obtain a life he would not have had otherwise. From that day forward he threw himself into his studies and did his best to ignore the constant jibes from Mehr.

One day Tehren was at a tavern and Mehr was also there. Mehr was in a heated argument with several gentlemen and then a fight broke out. Despite the hatred towards Tehren from Mehr, Tehren stepped in and helped his “brother”.

Word got back to their father about what had happened and he demanded answers. He had managed to smooth things over with their respective Guilds so they weren't punished. Before Mehr could answer Tehren stepped forward and shouldered the blame. Mehr was taken by surprise at Tehren's actions and from then on they became friends.

Years later Tehren, now risen through the ranks of the Guild of Bookmakers decided to visit his family in the poorer districts. The visit did not go well, his mother was pleased to see him, proud at his acomplishments. His father, who has increased his habits for drinking, berated him at becoming an uppity rich boy and for not providing for his real family. They came to physical blows and Tehren left, distaught at how much lower his family had fallen since he left.

Tehren brooded for days, his brother Mehr could not shake him from his depression. Mehr finally forced him out of the house and down into the city with him to take a walk. They finally stopped and Mehr went off to get them both some food Tehren noticed a beautiful young lady. The young lady in turn spotted Tehren and approached him perhaps noticing his saddened look. They talked a while and she left. Mehr returned to find his brother looking a lot happier. Tehren would spend more time with Dahla, they would walk and talk and eventually Tehren began to speak to her of his past and upbringing. Tehren lamented over the state of his family and expressed wanting to help them but wasn't sure how. It was Dahla that suggested building them a new home, somewhere outside of the district in which they lived.

Tehren was not poor by any stretch of the imagination, over the years he had accquired considerable weatlth though his own endeavors, not counting the wealth his adoptive family held. Using his adoptive father's contacts Tehren was above to purchase a section of cavern wall to build a new neighbourhood.

Situated down on the edge of the lake, lower than the other hoods nearby the Tehren Neighborhood is constructed. A large stone tree is scultped with leaves of tiny green firemarbles. Tehren Writes a Linking Book for the Age Eder Tehren (Maybe Eder Tergaroto instead TBD).

Tehren returns to his family in the poor district, and tells them what he has built and extends and invitation to them to come live there. Tehren and Dahla have decided that they will live in the hood with the family and get married.

Everyone moves to the hood except his father who's resentment has increased tenfold. Jealous that Tehren has provided for his family where he couldn't. Tehren's mother sees a chance to get away from his father and his drinking abusive behaviour and leaves.

Tehren and Dahla marry, Tehren presents Eder Tehren (or Tergaroto) to his family as a wedding present from his and Dahla.

Dahla eventually becomes pregnant, unfortunately one day Tehren goes missing, none can find him anywhere. Dahla is stressed with her husbands disappearence and the coming baby. The baby is born (a son) but Dahla dies in childbirth. Several weeks later Tehren's body is discovered in the old house in the poor district, his father is no where to be found and is it suggested the father murdered him.

Mehr is distraught at the loss of this brother, but proud and impressed at what Tehren built for his family. As Mehr and his wife cannot have a child they adopt the child of Tehren and Dahla, repeating the actions of his father all those years before.
