Designation: D’ni Age

Jalak is an Age that was upon a time used for sports and games. The DRC have found no information as to the type of games played within the Age.

“We still haven't figured out exactly how this place is supposed to work, and we're not sure we're ever going to. We do know that the D'ni came here for some kind of sport, and it was fairly popular. We know that audiences came and watched whatever game they played. It's the rules we don't know.

We have found no rules written down by the D'ni, which means that it was such common knowledge that no one felt the need to write it down, or the game always changed.”

The release of Jalak resulted in some polar views from members of the explorer community. Some felt that the Age was pointless and that the DRC wasted time that could have been spent on more interesting worlds. Others enjoyed the Age and the entertainment in provided.

Jalak is sometimes incorrectly referred to as Jalak Dador, this stems from a pun by Ryan Miller who though it sounded like “Did ya lock da door”.

Appearance

At the center of Jalak sits a five by five grid of pillars. The pillars have an adjustable height that can be raised or lowered. This “playing field” is situated within a swampy area and surrounded by 4 large spectator stands constructed of brick and stone. It was from the top of these stands that D’ni citizens could watch the games below.

Outside of this small area the rest of the Age is filled with rolling hills and mountains. Large bamboo shoots and various foliage populate the land giving it a rich green atmosphere.
