In 5312 DE disease broke out in the Nehw'eril District an industrial section in the D'ni cavern. The district was in close proximity to the D'ni city so the sickness spread quickly. In the aftermath there was a push to establish a new industrial district further away from the city that could protect from further illnesses being brought in from the Ages.

In 5475 DE construction on the Uran District began during the reign of King Me'emen. The district opened in 5500 DE and the first imports from the Ages started to arrive.

In 5540 DE King Me'emen's son, Ashem, became ill. Ashem was a member of the Guild of Healers and was often among the first to investigate new Ages to make sure of their safety. After a period of 6 months Ashem died from his illness. King Me'emen considered the actions of his son to be heroic and in memorial to him renamed the district to Ashehm'en.

During the reign of King Lanaren a new district adjacent to Ashehm'en was developed. The Lanaren District served has a housing area for workers of the Ashem'en district.
