Fahets Book of Commentary
Fahets Book of Commentary
Author: K.Lord
It has taken me a long time, from those initial discoveries we made in Ae’gura to putting pen to page and crafting the test book.
To sit here with the Korteenea here in front of me, waiting to begin, I cannot feel hypocritical given how things went with James.
In the early days we had forbidden the study of The Art, let alone dabbling with it, yet here we are, here I am.
But my feeling of hypocrisy goes only so far, studying the Art is one thing, but the Bahro and slavery that went with it is another.
I am nervous…
I have checked and checked again over my notes, over my research and the documents and Books we discovered in the city.
A deceptively simple act, putting pen to paper, yet the results that come from such and action…
—
It has been a slow process, working all hours of the night, checking and rechecking, making sure no mistake is carried over.
But it progresses nicely.
—
I have travelled through many Books, visted many Ages, it is as comfortable as catching the bus into town. So why is it I look upon the completed Book with such fear?
Is it the concept that through the words Written, I have done what many D’ni before had accomplished?
It has been a dream of mine for years, even before discovering the existance of D’ni, to create worlds for people to visit. Before it was through traditional means, photography, painting and the like, but now?
But I did not create this world, that is a mindset that should not be lingered upon..
—
I have tried pushing my fear down, but still it lingers in the pit of my stomach, but I cannot delay any more, my desire to know if I had succeeded this time is pushing me forward.
—
We Linked, through, myself going first of course.
Rain greeted me, splashing down over my face as I looked up, it was a strange experience, almost like it was washing my previous fear away so I could explore the Age with out being held back.
It looked different to how I was expecting it too, the image in my head, and the words on the paper seem to form something that was like what I had imagined only different.
It is smaller than I had expected, but it was indeed settled in a basin of rock like I had thought. It is blanketed with a yellowish grass and littered with all means of plants and curious little blue pods.
As I walked around, the others pressed on and tested the Age to make sure it was safe.
As they left to take the samples back I found myself lingering, wondering if this sensation was how the D’ni felt when they wrote an Age, and did it happen with every Age they wrote or just the first one?
—
Today we celebrated.
The tests returned and showed the Age was indeed safe, as a result we decided to spend the night there having some fun and celebrating Fahets as I have named it.
—
Spent the day helping the others map out Fahets.
—
Has it really been 2 years already? I am ashamed of myself, to think that I allowed the Fahets Book to go missing in the first place, and for it to be missing for so long…
The D’ni placed the utmost care and reverence in their Books and I allow for one to go missing.
The Age is a mess, the heavy rain over the last 2 years have flooded the basin out. The Nexus Book has been destroyed and the water has become stagnant. Pumps will need to be brought in to clean this all up.
—
The pumps have been hard at work, removing the water buildup. We’ve redrawn the plans for the Age and spent some time on “Woodharvest” looking for a tree to transplant.
The weather has improved lately, spending time out in the warm breeze has been most pleasant.
—
Work on the Age was halted today, as focus is placed on other areas of a more pressing nature, I’m disappointed that I was out voted on this, but that is the way things go and I accept it.
—-
Today I returned, today I discovered that once again the Age is flooded out, someone forgot to turn the pumps on.
The Roseleaf tree we brought over from Woodharvest did not take to the high water levels and fell, it did not survive. A shame as it was a beautiful looking tree, however the high water has allowed for native wildlife to flourish, no surprise there really as the native wildlife would be tailored to live in the conditions found on Fahets.
—
Another short hiatus over, and another visit to a flooded Age. The pumps we have in place appear to not be able to handle the strain of the heavy rainfall, not sure what we will do there.
The small blue pods we noticed when we first Linked here have grown in to big pods which I have taken to calling Norapods, not sure why mind you, it was just a name that came to me.
Some tests and studies are going to be made on the wildlife to see if it is safe (or still safe in some cases).
—
Sophie stopped by today to take a look at the pumps, she thinks her team might be able to work up something more suited to the Age based on the ones we used in Cass and some D’ni designed one we found in the Cavern.
Took a sample of the Norapod today, they look pretty firm from the outside, but when you touch them they have a degree of softness to them. The inside reminded me a great deal of a tomato, very juicy with a mass of seeds.
Not sure how they seeds would spread though, perhaps they don’t until the host pod had died.
—
Sophie’s team did some great work with the new pump, it looks a little basic at the moment but it does the job which is the important thing. Sophie has said she will keep tinkering with it as time goes by.
The rain has been staying away lately, as a result the ground has been drying up nicely and allowing for sproutlings to grow.
—
Tests indicated that the Norapod is actually a species of fruit. We decided to flip a coin to see who would get to try it first and Keira was the lucky winner.
It has a curious taste to it, a sweetness with a slight bitterness to the aftertaste.
—
Pedestal and this book of commentary have been placed in the Age today. There was no after effects of tasting the Norapods, neither myself, Keira of Steven have been ill in any form, it seems likely they are fine for consumption.
—
We handed out some Linking Books today to a few people, before we released to the public, Vid and Doc stopped by to see how work had progressed here.
—
Had a few delays wrapping everything up, thanks to some outside help we were able to get everything sorted out and the Age passed Phase 5 approval. The Linking Book will now be handed out to the public. It’s been a long journey getting this Age together for release, from the first words I wrote down in the Book to the first visitor who Links here.
It’s a good day.
