Preparation for Arrivals

We are probably less than a year away from allowing a much larger number of people down here. With this fact in mind, I have begun to shift the direction of my work to focus on how we will begin to accomodate the influx of people.

Just want to be thinking ahead. :D

Along those same lines, Victor and I have begun initial preperations for the mass KI distribution we’ve agreed on. With the numbers the Council is projecting, we’re thinking it would be more effecient to direct explorers to the KI caches in the Maintainers’ Age, rather than transport all the KIs to a more public area.

That’s great news. We do need to start planning for this now.

My only concern is that posting this on the public boards might give unrealistic expectations about how far along the restoration effort is to those reading them. So let me re-emphasize (and slightly rephrase) what Marie said in her post: it may be up to a year (or more) before we’re actually ready to start bringing people down here. This is another important step, but there are many more that need to be taken.

Hey Michael,

Has anyone actually tried sticking their hand in that distributor yet? If it works it would certainly speed up the process. If not… well at least they would still have one hand left. :D

Thanks Ko –

I was trying to convinced Mark to try it, but since you’ve already done it I’ll assume we should move forward quickly. Since it’s fairly apparent that the D’ni had planned to use it at some point for KI distribution, we should plan on taking advantage of their preparations.

It’s strange, they were so close but never got a chance to distribute the KIs much beyond the Maintainers and a few elite. Kind of like early cell phones.

I’ll run a few more tests, but the only reason for not using it is if Kodama can’t clap his hand(s). :)

KI distribution is now tested and working in the lower area of the Garrison well. Just stick your hand in the lower slot.

Unless I hear that we need further approval there, I’m recommending that any members and/or explorers who still need a KI head that direction.

KI’s Image Testing

While I’ve been busy with the Nexus/KI interface, Eric has been working hard on finalizing the KI image processing. He informs me that we should encourage authorized explorers to test it. (If we still see vignetting you know who to talk to.)

Marie has agreed to receive images from explorers. We’ll give her KImail address to authorized explorers.

I figure we should ask for KI shots with Rico in them; since, for some reason, everyone is so intent on finding him. :)
