(10/26 21:02:15) Jules Lavisham waves hello
(10/26 21:02:42) Jules Lavisham: Here for the Town Hall?

(10/26 21:09:50) Calum Traveler nods to jules and lugs out some notebooks to review notes over very quickly...
(10/26 21:10:23) Jules Lavisham: Heh. Yes, this particular last Wednesday of the month has snuck up on me a little as well.
(10/26 21:10:30) Jules Lavisham: Doesn't really feel like the last one
(10/26 21:11:31) Calum Traveler: agreed
(10/26 21:11:44) Calum Traveler sets out a bowl and fills it with some cheddar fish shaped crackers...
(10/26 21:12:01) Jules Lavisham: Then again, something about this time of the year always throws me out of whack a bit.
(10/26 21:12:15) Jules Lavisham: Rob! Hello there!

(10/26 21:14:52) Jules Lavisham: Hi Diranda!
(10/26 21:14:56) Robert Murry: Hi Diranda :)
(10/26 21:15:01) Calum Traveler: jules brought some books as part of the cultural exchange
(10/26 21:15:05) Calum Traveler: we'll get into details later
(10/26 21:15:19) Jules Lavisham: Oh that's fantastic
(10/26 21:15:26) Cpt.Jericho: Ah, I see. Like Lady Chatterly or Emanualle?
(10/26 21:15:38) Cpt.Jericho giggles
(10/26 21:15:38) Calum Traveler: only one i remember off hand was Beowulf, lol.
(10/26 21:16:02) Calum Traveler: old classics and the like, right, jules?
(10/26 21:16:25) Cpt.Jericho: Beowulf? To show them the manly way to wrestle megafauna?
(10/26 21:16:36) Jules Lavisham: That's right Cal.
(10/26 21:16:42) BatPrad: Wolf beer
(10/26 21:16:55) Calum Traveler: hah, no, captain, lol,
(10/26 21:16:55) Jules Lavisham: Few of the old myths, the ones that have stood the test of time
(10/26 21:17:20) Calum Traveler offers the bowl of goldfish crackers to folks
(10/26 21:17:21) Jules Lavisham: Hah, they certainly don't need tips on taking down those big beasties.
(10/26 21:17:23) Robert Murry: I gave them a few books on Archeolgy, history, and Social Studies as well.
(10/26 21:17:50) Calum Traveler: no they do not.
(10/26 21:17:54) Cpt.Jericho: Hm, social studies? Could be dangerous.
(10/26 21:17:57) Calum Traveler shudders slightly in memory.
(10/26 21:18:07) Calum Traveler: only to the non socialites lol
(10/26 21:18:24) Calum Traveler: headache inducers right there :P
(10/26 21:18:30) BatPrad: Hi TikiBear
(10/26 21:18:36) Calum Traveler: shorah, Tiki
(10/26 21:18:46) Calum Traveler: oh, that reminds me, I got a message from Kelsei this morning
(10/26 21:18:56) Calum Traveler: apparently your lost gnome got shipped to her house this morning.
(10/26 21:19:15) Calum Traveler: no return address, though.
(10/26 21:19:23) Cpt.Jericho: You should be careful, what kind of knowledge you share.
(10/26 21:19:23) TikiBear: Shorah, Calum!
(10/26 21:19:36) BatPrad: lost+found
(10/26 21:19:36) Robert Murry: Shorah Tiki.
(10/26 21:19:49) Calum Traveler: believe me, Captain, we've been rather cautious.
(10/26 21:19:58) Detective Harry Williams: hello
(10/26 21:19:59) TikiBear: Shorah, Robert!
(10/26 21:20:02) Calum Traveler: shorah, detective.
(10/26 21:20:09) Jules Lavisham: We're certainly not out to overthrow a society with seditious ideas, Cpt.
(10/26 21:20:17) Robert Murry: Hello Harry.
(10/26 21:20:19) Jules Lavisham: Evenin' Harry.
(10/26 21:20:21) Calum Traveler: anyways, tiki, i think Kelsei'll get your gnome brought down for you to pick up one of these days,
(10/26 21:20:22) TikiBear: Speak for yourself.
(10/26 21:20:24) Detective Harry Williams: Hello, Robert.
(10/26 21:20:29) Calum Traveler: she's got work for the next few days so it might be a while.
(10/26 21:20:42) Calum Traveler: she was very confused by why someone would ship it to her. seemed unharmed though.
(10/26 21:21:04) TikiBear: I suspect that the gnome is living its best life, wherever it is.
(10/26 21:21:09) Detective Harry Williams: What's this about a gnome?
(10/26 21:21:18) Calum Traveler: oh, TikiBear had a gnome that went missing a while back
(10/26 21:21:29) Cpt.Jericho: Stories and lullaby songs are one thing. But social studies sound to me like a train waiting for the wrecking.
(10/26 21:21:29) TikiBear: It remains at large.
(10/26 21:21:41) Robert Murry: Ah, a man and his gnome, reunited. Happy endings.
(10/26 21:21:47) Calum Traveler: less at large now, considering it got shipped to kelsei's house thismorning,
(10/26 21:21:58) Detective Harry Williams: "at large"? sounds like a criminal LOL
(10/26 21:22:00) Calum Traveler: it'll be returned soon enough i think.
(10/26 21:22:07) TikiBear: I disavow any mayhem that results from that.
(10/26 21:22:10) Jules Lavisham: Well, they're not being disseminated indisciminately throughout their society at large, Cpt
(10/26 21:22:22) Calum Traveler hums
(10/26 21:22:26) Jules Lavisham: All of our texts have been provided to their leaders and religious leaders
(10/26 21:22:54) Cpt.Jericho: And you think that gives me peace?
(10/26 21:22:57) Detective Harry Williams: Are you talking about the inhabited Age negotiations?
(10/26 21:23:01) LividLiquid: Thank you for those notifications, Calum. I'd have missed this otherwise.
(10/26 21:23:04) Calum Traveler: yes, that's todays main subject.
(10/26 21:23:10) Calum Traveler: no problem LL :)
(10/26 21:24:21) Calum Traveler hums something about tallying ripe bananas before munching on some fish crackers
(10/26 21:24:32) BatPrad: NoMore and ALotOf again trying to beat their highscore in the Teledahn-Tubbies platformer... and guess who has to have a look on Ae'Gura City while they're distracted...
(10/26 21:24:35) BatPrad taps his foot
(10/26 21:24:36) TikiBear: LOL
(10/26 21:24:45) Calum Traveler: :P
(10/26 21:25:07) Leridan: Hello guys
(10/26 21:25:13) Calum Traveler: Teledahn-tubbies... LOL
(10/26 21:25:16) Calum Traveler: shorah leridan
(10/26 21:25:19) Leridan: What's up here?
(10/26 21:25:21) Detective Harry Williams: Is Carl going to be here?
(10/26 21:25:23) Robert Murry: Hi Leridan.
(10/26 21:25:35) Calum Traveler: this is the town hall, a monthly recap of ongoing interesting events in and around the cavern
(10/26 21:25:44) Leridan: oh cool
(10/26 21:25:48) Jules Lavisham: Having spoken to them Cpt, they're a savvy bunch. They're certainly not going to let their society disintegrate due to any political or social theory that we have to offer
(10/26 21:26:18) Jules Lavisham: Having seen the size of their libraries up close, I imagine they've come up with some variants on anything we have to offer already
(10/26 21:26:36) Calum Traveler: that was a very impressive library, for sure.
(10/26 21:26:40) Jules Lavisham: Mmm
(10/26 21:26:41) Robert Murry: Indeed.
(10/26 21:27:40) Detective Harry Williams: Have you found anything, Robert?
(10/26 21:28:19) Robert Murry: In regards to?
(10/26 21:28:37) Detective Harry Williams: Our investigation
(10/26 21:29:11) Robert Murry: Ah, They ssem to be laying low for now.
(10/26 21:29:21) Calum Traveler: yes, those lot have been quite quiet,
(10/26 21:29:32) Cpt.Jericho: Too quiet?
(10/26 21:29:39) Calum Traveler: i suspect they're definitely laying low, if they weren't involved in that pod 12 book of mine going missing for a bit
(10/26 21:29:58) Calum Traveler: im sure they'll make nuisances of themselves again sooner than later.
(10/26 21:30:10) Cpt.Jericho: Nice!
(10/26 21:30:16) Detective Harry Williams: ?
(10/26 21:30:25) Calum Traveler: huh?
(10/26 21:30:25) Detective Harry Williams: "Nice"?
(10/26 21:30:26) Robert Murry: We'll be ready for them.
(10/26 21:30:33) Cpt.Jericho: Hehehe
(10/26 21:30:40) Calum Traveler narrows eyes slightly
(10/26 21:30:42) Cpt.Jericho: Muwahahahaha
(10/26 21:30:50) TikiBear: We can take those punks!
(10/26 21:30:56) Calum Traveler mutters to Jules about not introducing the Captain to Amara'da any time soon.
(10/26 21:31:07) Jules Lavisham snorts
(10/26 21:31:13) Jules Lavisham: Eresh! Hello!
(10/26 21:31:15) Cpt.Jericho: Traying to bait me, Cal?
(10/26 21:31:17) Robert Murry: Hi Eresh!
(10/26 21:31:19) Ereshkigal: Hi everyone!
(10/26 21:31:26) Detective Harry Williams: Who's Amara'da? One of the people from that Age?
(10/26 21:31:30) Diranda waves hello

Meeting Start (Highgarden)

(10/26 21:31:34) Jules Lavisham: Right, couple more minutes just to give the stragglers some breathing room
(10/26 21:31:35) Calum Traveler: alright, it's 14:30 KI time, i think we ought to get started.
(10/26 21:31:42) Calum Traveler: ish.
(10/26 21:31:46) Calum Traveler: yes, Detective,
(10/26 21:31:52) Calum Traveler: we'll cover details soon.
(10/26 21:32:00) Ereshkigal: Speaking of Reischu, better not bring too much of Murry's alcohol there... if this is what it's like when they're NOT drunk... :)
(10/26 21:32:09) TikiBear: LOL
(10/26 21:32:28) Jules Lavisham: Agreed.
(10/26 21:32:29) Robert Murry: I'm more worried about Jules.
(10/26 21:32:32) Cpt.Jericho: Yep, learn from history: No firewater for the natives
(10/26 21:32:45) Calum Traveler: i think they already have their own,
(10/26 21:32:46) Jules Lavisham: My skull and I are... not quite yet on speaking terms again.
(10/26 21:32:50) Detective Harry Williams: What's it like in this Age?
(10/26 21:32:54) Jules Lavisham: Mistakes were made.
(10/26 21:33:01) Calum Traveler: we'll cover that in a minute or so,
(10/26 21:33:03) Calum Traveler: but, in general...
(10/26 21:33:08) Jules Lavisham: I also learned what a "bangover" is.
(10/26 21:33:09) Calum Traveler: beautiful, and terrifying.
(10/26 21:33:25) Calum Traveler: its certainly a running existential crisis to think about.
(10/26 21:33:30) Diranda chuckles softly.
(10/26 21:33:34) Detective Harry Williams: What Jules just said SOUNDS terrifying
(10/26 21:33:45) BatPrad: no worries...what happens in Rei'schu stays in Rei'schu... lol
(10/26 21:33:49) Detective Harry Williams: A "bangover"?
(10/26 21:33:53) Jules Lavisham: Right, I reckon we can kick things off!
(10/26 21:33:56) Calum Traveler: banging your head to music,
(10/26 21:33:59) Calum Traveler: while drinking
(10/26 21:34:01) Calum Traveler: heavily
(10/26 21:34:01) TikiBear: If it's not something for breakfast I don't need ot know.
(10/26 21:34:06) Robert Murry: Heh. Heh,
(10/26 21:34:06) Detective Harry Williams: Oh, WHEW.
(10/26 21:34:06) Calum Traveler: ><;
(10/26 21:34:12) Jules Lavisham: Shorah everybody, welcome to this month's Town Hall!
(10/26 21:34:35) Jules Lavisham: Hoping you're all doing good and Spooky Season is finding you well
(10/26 21:35:13) Jules Lavisham: As usual, before we kick off in earnest, we'll run through the rules quicksharpish
(10/26 21:35:29) Jules Lavisham: No pressing the blue button,
(10/26 21:35:47) TikiBear hides red spraypaint
(10/26 21:35:54) Jules Lavisham: Comments to a minimum unless called on,
(10/26 21:36:08) Detective Harry Williams eyes TikiBear suspiciously
(10/26 21:36:18) Jules Lavisham: Any issues, PM Calum in the first instance, we'll address it if it's pressing.
(10/26 21:36:41) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 21:36:55) Jules Lavisham: Transcripts of today's meeting will be posted to the Beneath forums for future reference.
(10/26 21:37:06) Calum Traveler: i believe theyll be handy given the subject matter today
(10/26 21:37:16) Calum Traveler pats the notebook pile and sighs
(10/26 21:37:54) Jules Lavisham: If you haven't been, the forum is located at http://dniexplorer.com/forum
(10/26 21:38:13) Jules Lavisham: Good place for keeping up on the newest developments as they happen
(10/26 21:38:27) Calum Traveler: shorah Keith Lord :)
(10/26 21:38:32) Jules Lavisham: Or if you fancy just talking toot with the likes of us
(10/26 21:38:43) Keith Lord: Hello
(10/26 21:38:44) Jules Lavisham: Hello there Keith!
(10/26 21:38:49) Detective Harry Williams: hello
(10/26 21:39:05) Robert Murry: Shorah Keith.
(10/26 21:39:24) Jules Lavisham: Right, if all that sounds good, let's get this going
(10/26 21:39:42) Detective Harry Williams: Someone else just arrived. Hello
(10/26 21:40:00) Jules Lavisham: So, biggest age news this month has been the release of Highgarden
(10/26 21:40:27) Calum Traveler smiles at Keith
(10/26 21:40:29) Jules Lavisham: And in a fortuitous bit of timing, the writer of said age is here with us today#
(10/26 21:40:52) judyg leans left
(10/26 21:40:54) Keith Lord waves hello
(10/26 21:40:56) BatPrad leans right
(10/26 21:41:14) GooberChilla claps her hands
(10/26 21:41:18) Jules Lavisham: Keith, I understand Highgarden is part of a larger age of yours?
(10/26 21:41:19) Cpt.Jericho: There's a Morlock here?
(10/26 21:42:01) Keith Lord: Indeed Jules. Highgarden is located on a small island off of the shore of the main Fahets landmass.
(10/26 21:42:43) BatPrad: there's a map somewhere which is interesting in that regard...
(10/26 21:42:46) Calum Traveler: ive seen the maps, its a bigish age,
(10/26 21:42:47) Keith Lord: It was discovered many years ago during an exploration trip and was converted into a garden area for the Third Path council.
(10/26 21:43:11) Keith Lord: Indeed, it takes multiple days to traverse.
(10/26 21:43:37) Keith Lord: It took me about a week to reach the northwest coastal area.
(10/26 21:43:54) Calum Traveler grins, thinking some hikers would love that.
(10/26 21:43:55) Jules Lavisham: The Third Path... forgive me, a little bit before my time. This was a group from back in the days of the previous restorations?
(10/26 21:45:15) Keith Lord: Yes, during the height of the DRC vs Yeesha conflict, Douglas Sharper was pushing his agenda and a group of us felt that there was another path, a third path to ensuring the future of D'ni by working with all parties
(10/26 21:45:45) Calum Traveler: amusingly, that seems to be the path that won out in the end.
(10/26 21:45:47) Keith Lord: We eventually started restoring Ages/areas and Writing our own Ages.
(10/26 21:46:02) Keith Lord: Indeed, I'll have to remind Doug of that next time I see him.
(10/26 21:46:34) Calum Traveler: if he ever shows his face around here im sure it'll be a lively conversation no matter what.
(10/26 21:47:03) Calum Traveler mutters something about topics dissolving into sports talk...
(10/26 21:47:24) Ereshkigal: Douglas Sharper? Does anyone know if he is even still alive somewhere?
(10/26 21:47:31) Calum Traveler shrugs
(10/26 21:47:39) Calum Traveler: i havent heard from him in over a decade.
(10/26 21:47:42) Cpt.Jericho: Whocars?
(10/26 21:47:43) Jules Lavisham: Am I right in thinking that Fahets is your first completed age, Keith?
(10/26 21:48:15) Keith Lord: Yep, which is why I called it "First".
(10/26 21:48:27) Keith Lord: Very complicated naming process.
(10/26 21:48:34) Keith Lord smiles
(10/26 21:48:35) Jules Lavisham chuckles
(10/26 21:48:40) Calum Traveler nods, knowingly
(10/26 21:49:03) Jules Lavisham: Are there any other areas of it that are on the agenda for explorers to be granted access to?
(10/26 21:49:44) Keith Lord: I am currently doing some work over at the "prime" area. Or the basin has it is also known.
(10/26 21:49:59) Keith Lord: It's the initial Link in point for the Age.
(10/26 21:50:54) Keith Lord: Some areas are unsafe since the destabilization event. One area is now in the ocean for example as a large part of the island of Fahets collapsed into the sea.
(10/26 21:51:24) Keith Lord: But more areas will be opened when deemed safe for visitors.
(10/26 21:51:30) Detective Harry Williams: "Destablization event"?
(10/26 21:51:57) BatPrad: there was something in the books on Highgarden about that...
(10/26 21:52:17) GooberChilla nods
(10/26 21:52:22) Keith Lord: Well, the thing about Age Writing is that it is very difficult. Whilst I was successful in Writing my first Age it wasn't without issues that resulted in the Age destablizing.
(10/26 21:52:43) Leridan: Where the linking book is located? isn't it the first on the left in Chiso?
(10/26 21:52:59) Keith Lord: It caused a lot of damage before I managed to fix things
(10/26 21:53:00) Calum Traveler: first on the right, facing the window, for highgarden
(10/26 21:53:25) Leridan: I'll check thanks
(10/26 21:53:55) Calum Traveler: well, im glad you fixed it, Keith,
(10/26 21:54:05) Calum Traveler: the age is very nice from what i can see.
(10/26 21:54:18) Keith Lord: I got to say, that was the first time I've been in D'ni an actually been scared. Whilst the Bahro conflict was terrifying there is something about being upon a world that is falling apart around you that just...yeah..
(10/26 21:54:35) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 21:54:37) Keith Lord: Likewise Calum, thanks.
(10/26 21:55:05) Jules Lavisham: Quite understandable.
(10/26 21:55:05) Calum Traveler: destabilization events are horrible to imagine, nevermind experience.
(10/26 21:55:14) Leridan: Is it always night there?
(10/26 21:55:54) Leridan: Maybe It was a stupid question ehhehe
(10/26 21:56:14) Jules Lavisham: I've thoroughly enjoyed taking a stroll through there, thoroughly looking forward to seeing more of Fahets.
(10/26 21:56:22) Keith Lord: Thanks Jules
(10/26 21:56:46) Jules Lavisham: If anyone hasn't had the chance to give it a look, it's highly recommended.
(10/26 21:57:11) Jules Lavisham: As mentioned, it can be found in the Chiso library.
(10/26 21:57:33) Calum Traveler: same, looking forwards to seeing other areas :)
(10/26 21:57:37) Jules Lavisham: Right, let's see what else for age news...
(10/26 21:57:48) Calum Traveler: Eder Bahvahnter i believe?
(10/26 21:57:58) Calum Traveler: tentatively scheduled for early-mid december, schedule pending
(10/26 21:58:16) Jules Lavisham: Fingers crossed.
(10/26 21:58:26) Calum Traveler: as long as nobody goes breaking anymore swingsets,
(10/26 21:58:33) Calum Traveler: i think it should, ah, make the schedule...
(10/26 21:58:39) Calum Traveler scratches at the back of his head, embarassed
(10/26 21:58:42) Detective Harry Williams: Highgarden, Eder Naybree, Eder Bahvahnter... a lot of garden Ages...
(10/26 21:58:50) Calum Traveler: 2022 ended up more the Garden Year
(10/26 21:58:55) Calum Traveler: rather than Garden Quarter.
(10/26 21:59:40) Calum Traveler: Direbo didnt make the cut, alas. too many concerns over those towering stone pillars, on my end.
(10/26 21:59:49) Calum Traveler: especially after all the concerns people had over naybree's cliffs.
(10/26 21:59:55) Ereshkigal: Bahvanter?
(10/26 22:00:11) Jules Lavisham: Yes, bit of a risk those, Cal.
(10/26 22:00:28) Calum Traveler: Bahvahnter's a project that Ametist and Dulcamara have been heading up
(10/26 22:00:35) Calum Traveler: similar to their colaboration on Elonin.
(10/26 22:00:35) Jules Lavisham: Someone's going to do themselves a mischief if they're not careful.
(10/26 22:00:55) Calum Traveler: i believe there's a prop-book left somewhere in Elonin as a tease?
(10/26 22:01:05) BatPrad: naybree's cliffs made people concerned...? interesting...
(10/26 22:01:08) Calum Traveler: you may have seen it at some point,
(10/26 22:01:12) Calum Traveler: it's the roots, BatPrad
(10/26 22:01:18) BatPrad: ah, okay...
(10/26 22:01:20) Calum Traveler: they punched clean through the rock,
(10/26 22:01:39) Calum Traveler: if you've been to the back area you can see why there's concerns
(10/26 22:02:13) LividLiquid: It's being reclaimed by nature.
(10/26 22:02:25) Calum Traveler: for the most part!

Meeting Cont. (Rei'schu)

(10/26 22:03:00) Calum Traveler: i think that's it on age news?
(10/26 22:03:08) Jules Lavisham: Yes, I reckon so.
(10/26 22:03:20) Calum Traveler: alright... then we'll touch on Rei'schu
(10/26 22:03:30) Jules Lavisham: Ah, yes
(10/26 22:03:37) Jules Lavisham: The delegation
(10/26 22:03:37) Calum Traveler: as you heard, we held our first rounds of negotiation with the locals last week,
(10/26 22:04:15) Calum Traveler: Jules and Myself were present, along with Robert Murry, Skyisblu, Ereshkigal, Catchen, Carl Palmner, and Kelsei Taylor
(10/26 22:04:36) Calum Traveler: well, Carl was there for a bit- unfortunately some business with Ben' called him away
(10/26 22:05:03) Calum Traveler smiles at those present here who were there
(10/26 22:05:13) Calum Traveler: first off, I want to say thanks to all of you who went there with us,
(10/26 22:05:20) Calum Traveler thanks you very much!
(10/26 22:05:45) Calum Traveler: it may not have been the smoothest trip in the world, but im glad that you all were there to help out.
(10/26 22:06:17) Calum Traveler grimaces slightly at the thought of Ben
(10/26 22:06:28) Jules Lavisham: Certainly gave us a few surprises
(10/26 22:06:29) Calum Traveler: Ben, if you haven't heard, hasn't quite been taking well to the D'ni revelation.
(10/26 22:06:47) Calum Traveler: he was, ah, wanting to talk to Carl about the Bahro, that day.
(10/26 22:07:04) Calum Traveler: i dont know much about how that talk went,
(10/26 22:07:21) Calum Traveler: Carl hasn't said much to me about it- he's been pretty busy with surface work since the trip.
(10/26 22:07:47) Calum Traveler: and i havent seen ben since then either.
(10/26 22:08:06) Calum Traveler shakes his head
(10/26 22:08:43) Calum Traveler: anyways, so... Rei'schu. the group of us met up in a private instance of Naybree, and we headed out to Rei'schu through a book we've kept isolated for the time being- security reasons.
(10/26 22:09:22) Calum Traveler: Rei'schu is.... a very complicated age in terms of its aesthetics.
(10/26 22:09:44) Robert Murry: We did take the precaution of wearing Maitainer suits.
(10/26 22:10:21) Calum Traveler: the age, at one point, had its own destabilizing events. everything there is a mishmash of mountains and ocean, with all the landmass being held together by crystal sutchers.
(10/26 22:10:40) Calum Traveler: you can see it even in the moons- they're held together in a similar way and look like giant cats eyes.
(10/26 22:11:12) Calum Traveler: and the wildlife is, ah, larger than life.
(10/26 22:11:22) Calum Traveler glances to Jules
(10/26 22:11:47) BatPrad: Giant D'neshire cat :P
(10/26 22:11:50) Jules Lavisham: Not at *all* hyperbolic.
(10/26 22:11:54) Robert Murry: Ah, the crab legs.
(10/26 22:12:25) Calum Traveler: we met with Runa'mei, the age's local top huntress- goddess chosen and everything
(10/26 22:12:32) Jules Lavisham: They are... well, Douglas Sharper would be simultaneously in his element and hopelessly, *hilariously* outmatched.
(10/26 22:12:47) Calum Traveler: Chezwyrd Chen- they call her.
(10/26 22:13:22) Calum Traveler: and Priestess Karin'da, the chief priestess for the village I stayed at, was there as well.
(10/26 22:13:49) Calum Traveler: they gave the group a rundown of the basics that would be need-to-know, regarding the upcoming negotiations,
(10/26 22:14:12) Calum Traveler: and then we headed on to Chezahcen's realm- which the locals use as something of a Nexus like age between places on Rei'schu.
(10/26 22:14:35) Calum Traveler: they have their own form of linking technology- but it's about as restricted as Linking Books are in terms of inner-age linking.
(10/26 22:14:43) Calum Traveler: seems only Yeesha and the Bahro really cracked the trick on that one.
(10/26 22:15:27) Calum Traveler: from there, we linked to the city of Nara'sen.
(10/26 22:15:30) Calum Traveler looks to Jules
(10/26 22:15:53) Jules Lavisham: Fan-TASTIC city.
(10/26 22:16:07) Jules Lavisham: All stone and brass.
(10/26 22:16:09) Calum Traveler: Nara'sen is basically a giant school housed inside of a massive fortress of a city
(10/26 22:16:22) Cpt.Jericho: Not emerald?
(10/26 22:16:29) Calum Traveler: nope,
(10/26 22:16:41) Calum Traveler: hails from a time long before Chezahcen became Chezahcen,
(10/26 22:16:46) Jules Lavisham: I already want to get lost in that massive library of theirs.
(10/26 22:16:59) Calum Traveler: the age has a long and fraught history, some of it still surviving to this day, a lot of it lost to the calamity
(10/26 22:17:12) Calum Traveler takes a sip of water,
(10/26 22:17:23) [PRIVATE] From Calum Traveler: you take over for a bit.
(10/26 22:18:10) BatPrad: okay - if you still recover from covid... still get well... :)
(10/26 22:18:12) Calum Traveler screws the cap back onto a waterbottle, and looks tired.
(10/26 22:18:23) BatPrad: oops
(10/26 22:18:28) Calum Traveler: yeah, doesnt help i got my covid booster shot like, a few days after we got back
(10/26 22:18:31) Jules Lavisham: Following a brief walk through the city, we were guided to the main chamber where the negotiations were to be conducted
(10/26 22:18:39) Calum Traveler chuckles
(10/26 22:19:08) Jules Lavisham: We were soon joined by the five main village leaders and their respective priestess
(10/26 22:19:55) Jules Lavisham: And let me tell you, they made for an... engaging group.
(10/26 22:20:27) Robert Murry chuckles.
(10/26 22:20:43) Jules Lavisham: A fairly functioning unit, all things considered
(10/26 22:20:58) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 22:21:03) Jules Lavisham: With the very blatant exception of one of their leaders, Haru'sara
(10/26 22:21:14) Calum Traveler: former Mayor Haru'sara was... uh...
(10/26 22:21:16) Calum Traveler: something.
(10/26 22:21:17) Calum Traveler: alright.
(10/26 22:21:29) Robert Murry: He was indeed.
(10/26 22:21:31) Jules Lavisham: Who ordered his town built on a literal beach, arrived dressed in armour made of coral,
(10/26 22:21:40) Calum Traveler: no, before you ask, that's not normal
(10/26 22:21:44) Jules Lavisham: and insisted on being referred to as... what was it...
(10/26 22:21:52) Jules Lavisham: "High King of the Salty Seas?"
(10/26 22:21:59) Calum Traveler: "High King of the Salty Seas, Haru'sara the Unimportant"
(10/26 22:22:02) Calum Traveler grimaced
(10/26 22:22:08) Detective Harry Williams: Um.
(10/26 22:22:11) Jules Lavisham: Yes.
(10/26 22:22:20) Calum Traveler: the locals were very displeased with his *latest* stunt.
(10/26 22:22:28) Jules Lavisham: And no, I have no idea if he was doing a bit.
(10/26 22:22:46) Calum Traveler: i spoke with Runa'mei abit that night
(10/26 22:22:54) Calum Traveler: she legit has never seen him dress like that before.
(10/26 22:22:59) Calum Traveler: so... a bit seems likely.
(10/26 22:23:16) Calum Traveler: i think he was trying to unnerve everyone.
(10/26 22:23:20) Robert Murry: They were like outraged, than displeased.
(10/26 22:23:21) Calum Traveler: it seems to be his *thing.*
(10/26 22:23:55) Jules Lavisham: Mhm.
(10/26 22:23:57) Calum Traveler: he also refused to wear the translation necklaces the others wore, and forced his Priestess, Jae'dhar to do the work for him.
(10/26 22:24:02) Calum Traveler: she was very less than pleased.
(10/26 22:24:39) Calum Traveler: so yeah, among the group, we had five towns, represented by their leaders, and priestesses.
(10/26 22:24:59) Jules Lavisham: As the main thrust of our negotiations, we were asked to present several types of cultural exchange
(10/26 22:25:12) Jules Lavisham: We started with food and drink
(10/26 22:25:48) Jules Lavisham: Well, by that point, we'd gone through several kettles worth of tea, so that was something of a no-brainer
(10/26 22:26:06) Calum Traveler: the priestesses do love the eton mess...
(10/26 22:26:14) Jules Lavisham chuckles
(10/26 22:26:41) Jules Lavisham: And even before the negotiations had begun in earnest, Sky had gotten into discussions about farming techniques with Rein'da and Hotou'runa
(10/26 22:26:51) Calum Traveler: (Twin mayors)
(10/26 22:27:38) Jules Lavisham: Finally, there has been some ground established in terms of rebuilding their supplies of livestock,
(10/26 22:27:49) Jules Lavisham: something badly needed their end.
(10/26 22:27:57) Calum Traveler: turns out their local varriety of chicken went extinct a few years back,
(10/26 22:28:24) Calum Traveler: so we'll be seeing about getting some birds in for them to see if we can reintroduce the animal.
(10/26 22:28:45) Jules Lavisham: Obviously we're taking all necessary precautions on this front.
(10/26 22:28:54) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 22:29:13) Jules Lavisham: Last thing we want is their ecosystem to be thrown out of whack
(10/26 22:29:34) Jules Lavisham: So small, heavily controlled steps for now.
(10/26 22:30:03) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 22:30:35) Jules Lavisham: Second thing was to provide examples of musical compositions.
(10/26 22:30:42) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 22:31:10) Jules Lavisham: Have to say, we had a *wonderfully* diverse collection going by the end of it.
(10/26 22:31:17) BatPrad: avoiding 12-tone music I hope...
(10/26 22:31:34) Jules Lavisham: We had a bit of everything, BatPrad
(10/26 22:31:38) Calum Traveler: full listing of music's on the forums,
(10/26 22:31:44) Calum Traveler: and will be in the journals once i get them published
(10/26 22:31:48) Calum Traveler taps notebook three
(10/26 22:32:24) Jules Lavisham: All I will say is, some reactions...
(10/26 22:32:32) Calum Traveler: notable standouts included John Williams orchestrals, pop tracks, jazz, classics...
(10/26 22:32:35) Jules Lavisham: well, they had to be seen to be believed.
(10/26 22:32:37) Calum Traveler: Pretty Fly for Rasputin.
(10/26 22:32:41) Calum Traveler says DOH!
(10/26 22:32:52) Robert Murry groans.
(10/26 22:32:56) Calum Traveler: i still can't believe that actually worked on that guy...
(10/26 22:33:02) Jules Lavisham: Yes. No, I will not explain how it got on there,
(10/26 22:33:15) Jules Lavisham: but Haru'sara thought it was the greatest thing since self-slicing bread.
(10/26 22:33:22) Calum Traveler: eyuuup.
(10/26 22:33:32) Calum Traveler: dont get me wrong, its a good song, but... like...
(10/26 22:33:37) Jules Lavisham: Truly the Internet is filled with Things.
(10/26 22:33:43) Robert Murry: We had them all nodding to Bohemian Rhapsody.
(10/26 22:33:58) Calum Traveler: never underestimate the power of Queen
(10/26 22:34:05) Robert Murry: That was a sight I won't forget anytime soon.
(10/26 22:34:05) Jules Lavisham: Mhm.
(10/26 22:34:14) Cpt.Jericho wonders what "Girls just wanna have fun" would have done?
(10/26 22:34:32) Calum Traveler suspects Mayor Kura'quen would have approved of that one...
(10/26 22:34:43) Jules Lavisham: Right, that was music. We also had other forms of cultural relaxation to offer as well.
(10/26 22:34:46) Cpt.Jericho snickers
(10/26 22:35:05) Jules Lavisham: As mentioned before, I had a few examples of notable works of fiction
(10/26 22:35:29) Jules Lavisham: Beowulf, Thousand and One Nights, Journey to the West, Grimm's, The Iliad,
(10/26 22:35:36) Jules Lavisham: Epic of Gilgamesh
(10/26 22:35:46) Jules Lavisham: All the oldschool classics
(10/26 22:35:49) Calum Traveler: beyond those, also presented were sewing projects, embroidery talk... cardgames, history books...
(10/26 22:36:18) Jules Lavisham: Yes, Robert had a sound collection of non-fiction
(10/26 22:36:33) Jules Lavisham: More than enough to keep their scholars busy
(10/26 22:36:39) Calum Traveler: obviously the locals have their own forms of some of these, but never would I ever have thought that a woman like General Amara'da would be into custom armor sewing for a stress-relieving hobby.
(10/26 22:37:12) Calum Traveler: not with the amount of work she takes on... running a town, running a school, dealing with people day in and day out...
(10/26 22:37:22) Calum Traveler shakes head
(10/26 22:37:41) Calum Traveler: but i guess if you've got the muscles to punch needles through tough hides, why not put them to use?
(10/26 22:37:52) Calum Traveler: probably the local equivalent of model kit building, i guess.
(10/26 22:37:55) Calum Traveler shrugs
(10/26 22:38:12) Jules Lavisham: She was the one that, in my hubris, I thought I could out-headbang to Sabaton.
(10/26 22:38:34) Jules Lavisham pinches the bridge of his nose
(10/26 22:38:52) Calum Traveler: also, dont challenge her to an arm-wrestling contest.
(10/26 22:38:53) Calum Traveler: just don't.
(10/26 22:38:58) Calum Traveler shakes their head...
(10/26 22:39:04) Cpt.Jericho: Hmmm....
(10/26 22:39:07) Jules Lavisham: You *really* must talk me out of that next time I get into your scotch, Rob.
(10/26 22:39:30) Robert Murry: I tried to warn you.
(10/26 22:39:44) Calum Traveler: finally, i think the thing that everyone was putting the most weight on was the examples of community cohesion
(10/26 22:39:51) Jules Lavisham: Yes.
(10/26 22:40:09) Jules Lavisham: I felt that this was the one we really had to stand our ground on.
(10/26 22:40:14) Calum Traveler: Jules and Dr. Murry here gave quite the impassioned speeches about the community.
(10/26 22:40:49) Calum Traveler: oh, and i cant believe i almost forgot- Our dear Dr. Tiernan Quinlan was there, too,
(10/26 22:40:55) Calum Traveler: he was dutifully writing down everything
(10/26 22:41:11) Calum Traveler: which is where these notebooks ended up coming into existance from.
(10/26 22:41:11) Jules Lavisham: Yes, we have Tenny to thank for the writeup
(10/26 22:41:14) Robert Murry: It closed the circle on our negotiations.
(10/26 22:41:19) Calum Traveler: i've transcribed his notes into a novel like format.
(10/26 22:41:32) Diranda thumbsup.
(10/26 22:41:45) Calum Traveler: so, now that we've covered everything...
(10/26 22:41:47) Calum Traveler: how did it go?
(10/26 22:41:53) Calum Traveler exhales
(10/26 22:42:16) Calum Traveler: well, for starters, everything went well except for the wrenches Haru'sara threw in our path.
(10/26 22:42:21) Calum Traveler: he, ah,
(10/26 22:42:26) Calum Traveler: brought in a giant crab as a 'gift'
(10/26 22:42:37) Calum Traveler: notably, it never made it to the kitchen delivery as intended,
(10/26 22:42:54) Calum Traveler: and the people he'd hired to *drag* it there, alive, were, ah, notably absent after the thing broke out of its restraints.
(10/26 22:43:00) Calum Traveler: Runa'mei put it down.
(10/26 22:43:37) Ereshkigal: I need t link out, guys. Thanks a lot!!
(10/26 22:43:42) Calum Traveler: later eresh
(10/26 22:43:47) Jules Lavisham: See you later Eresh
(10/26 22:43:50) Diranda waves goodbye
(10/26 22:43:50) Robert Murry: Bye Eresh.
(10/26 22:44:08) BatPrad: drilled a hole in the crab - so it was a holy crab...
(10/26 22:44:18) Calum Traveler: finally, when the locals were wanting to vote on what to do...
(10/26 22:44:22) Calum Traveler: Haru'sara.... refused to do so.
(10/26 22:44:39) Calum Traveler: this was, iirc, the 7th orso time he'd refused to hold a vote in a mass meeting with other mayors.
(10/26 22:44:55) Jules Lavisham: And evidently, the last straw as far as they were concerned.
(10/26 22:44:57) Robert Murry: That's when things got intense.
(10/26 22:45:04) Calum Traveler: man would make a crazy concession, and wouldn't vote unless he got it.
(10/26 22:45:15) Calum Traveler: in this case he wanted *all* the music ever for himself.
(10/26 22:45:19) Calum Traveler: never to share.
(10/26 22:45:30) Calum Traveler: Jae'dhar had enough and challenged him for the Mayorship.
(10/26 22:45:58) Calum Traveler: let's just say for a moment we weren't sure if it was a duel to the death or something else.
(10/26 22:46:07) Calum Traveler: fortunately, it was the something else.
(10/26 22:46:17) Calum Traveler: crystal feather crowns, and single knives.
(10/26 22:46:24) Calum Traveler: break your opponent's crown, you win the duel.
(10/26 22:46:40) Cpt.Jericho had hoped for a dancing contest...
(10/26 22:46:41) Calum Traveler: Haru'sara lost.
(10/26 22:46:55) Jules Lavisham: Almost immediately, in fact.
(10/26 22:47:02) Calum Traveler: it was over quick,
(10/26 22:47:07) Calum Traveler: i dont know what that man expected.
(10/26 22:47:35) Calum Traveler: Jae'dhar and the others held a vote, and their agreement was unanimos.
(10/26 22:47:53) Calum Traveler: Rei'schu wants to continue pursuing diplomatic ties with us.
(10/26 22:48:09) Calum Traveler: so yeah. that's about where we stand.
(10/26 22:48:30) Calum Traveler claps hands together, looking a bit... tense... or maybe hungry. probably just hungry.
(10/26 22:48:52) Calum Traveler: any closing remarks, jules?
(10/26 22:48:54) BIG thumbs up from BatPrad
(10/26 22:49:14) Jules Lavisham: All in all, an incredibly satisfying result.
(10/26 22:49:52) Jules Lavisham: I'm honestly delighted that we're maintaining ties with them, and that future talks are on the cards
(10/26 22:50:09) Jules Lavisham: They're a sound bunch.
(10/26 22:50:14) Robert Murry: One of the more successful negotiations I've been involved in. If not the most colorful...
(10/26 22:50:18) Cpt.Jericho: Yeah. now that you introduced them to car games...
(10/26 22:50:24) Cpt.Jericho: *card
(10/26 22:50:35) Calum Traveler: in the end, they're good people, if a bit... unique.
(10/26 22:50:40) Calum Traveler: quirky? quirky's good.
(10/26 22:50:47) Calum Traveler: quirky is good in all measures of the imagination.
(10/26 22:51:00) Robert Murry: Oh they had their versions of card games.
(10/26 22:51:12) Jules Lavisham: I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes of all this.
(10/26 22:51:26) Calum Traveler: that said, I'd expect Runa'mei may come visit at some point in the future if she can manage to get the time away. that girl is in desperate need of friends, lol.
(10/26 22:51:53) Cpt.Jericho: Friends or "friends"?
(10/26 22:52:15) Cpt.Jericho double winks and nudges
(10/26 22:52:45) Calum Traveler: friends, as in living breathing people
(10/26 22:52:46) Calum Traveler: lol
(10/26 22:52:48) Jules Lavisham peers down her glasses at Cpt.Jericho
(10/26 22:52:50) Calum Traveler: not murder machines
(10/26 22:53:02) Robert Murry: She did seem very fond of Calum, wouldn't you say so, Jules?
(10/26 22:53:26) Calum Traveler: you didn't see her with Kelsei that night after you all left.
(10/26 22:53:29) Cpt.Jericho: Ah, so "friends" after all
(10/26 22:53:40) Calum Traveler: seriously, it was like they were long lost sisters.
(10/26 22:54:03) Jules Lavisham chuckles
(10/26 22:54:04) Calum Traveler: i spent most of the time compiling tenny's notes.
(10/26 22:54:13) Robert Murry: I'm glad that she has the two of as friends.
(10/26 22:54:21) Calum Traveler nods
(10/26 22:54:26) Robert Murry: of you
(10/26 22:54:51) Calum Traveler: two friends is a start, but seriously, Runa'mei is... very dedicated to her work to the point I think she's pursued it more than any social life.
(10/26 22:55:10) Jules Lavisham: In which case, a couple of jaunts here may do her some good.
(10/26 22:55:16) Calum Traveler: her title isn't just there because she's a skilled huntress,
(10/26 22:55:18) Diranda nods.
(10/26 22:55:38) Calum Traveler: and that's... yknow... not exactly a pressure many people take well to.
(10/26 22:56:05) Calum Traveler: not when a goddess says 'hey, you're my hero who's going to kill wild monsters! go be the super protag hero of this death game world!'
(10/26 22:56:21) Calum Traveler: im adlibbing, but,
(10/26 22:56:23) Calum Traveler: you get the point.
(10/26 22:57:18) Calum Traveler: you guys saw how she tensed up when Karin'da showed up...
(10/26 22:57:35) Jules Lavisham: Mm.
(10/26 22:57:43) Calum Traveler taps the notebook, and sighs.
(10/26 22:57:56) Calum Traveler: anyways, i think that about wraps it up for tonight?
(10/26 22:58:27) Jules Lavisham: Yes, I reckon so! I knew we had a lot to talk about with it tonight, but strewth...
(10/26 22:58:37) Jules Lavisham: The full writeup is currently on the Beneath forums,
(10/26 22:58:39) Calum Traveler: yes, quite a bit to talk about.

(10/26 22:59:03) Calum Traveler: its a temporary location
(10/26 22:59:15) Calum Traveler: but it'll do until the apartment is ready to host stuff
(10/26 22:59:51) Jules Lavisham: We'll let people know once the next round of talks are on the agenda
(10/26 22:59:58) Calum Traveler: indeed,
(10/26 23:00:05) Calum Traveler: if you're on discord, ill post notifs there first, likely
(10/26 23:00:21) Jules Lavisham: I imagine everyone involved with this lot will want to stay connected in a consulting capacity,
(10/26 23:00:22) Calum Traveler: just because it'll be easier to notif folks who joined the planning server,
(10/26 23:00:26) LividLiquid: Which Discord?
(10/26 23:00:44) Jules Lavisham: but we're certainly keeping things open for anyone else wanting to step up as a delegate.
(10/26 23:00:48) Calum Traveler: https://discord.gg/FPTKRfWe3w
(10/26 23:01:09) BatPrad: Negotiations have an extra discord server
(10/26 23:01:09) Calum Traveler: Rei'schu trip planning discrod,
(10/26 23:01:26) Calum Traveler: yeah, easier to keep that talk contained where it has a place.
(10/26 23:01:27) Robert Murry: True Jules. The more, the merrier.
(10/26 23:01:59) Jules Lavisham: The diversity of our voices and experiences was invaluable. We want to utilise that to the best that we can.
