Question: Has anyone done a lot of research into Gahreesen and ink beetles? Hoping someone might have translated some Maintainer books and stuff, maybe know about Gahreesen wildlife, or know what kind of stuff ink beetles need to survive.
I've got a theory that with all the open ink beetle cages, and the lack of a bunch of dead ink beetles, they were released or escaped during the fall and there might be thriving colonies out there.
Also need some climbing gear, and hopefully a grappling hook or line-launching gun. Thinking I can make a rope line to cross over from the short rock spire next to the Well building with a Maintainer's Mark on it, to the cliffsides.

Gahreesen's relationship with Ink Beetles isn't of the writing variety, but of the consuming variety. The Maintainers had hordes of Ink Seeking Beetles stored in those cages. They'd unleash them on someone who was visiting the facility to ensure outside Inks and Books weren't brought inside.
I'd be very cautious about heading outside of Gahreesen's canyon area. There's quite some very loud beasties out there in the woods, and I'd wager they're none too shy about violence against humanoids, going by the noises they make, and that the Maintainers chose to settle themselves there. Probably meant as a fail safe in case of escaped prisoners, I'd wager.

Still seems workable as a book/ink detector. I hadn't heard if we're still basically using new old stock or if we'd reverse engineered things, but I figure more supplies are always good for the Writers, and it lets more people have personal linking books to make the commute easier. XP
And I'm planning on being /very/ careful about my explorations. suited up, Relto at the ready.

Well, as far as supplies and sources go, I'm not going to post publicly regarding that. Operational security and all.
Well, all I can say is I can't recommend a trip out there. The distant noises are a bit too frightening for me!

If you insist on going out there, don't go alone, suit up, and keep your hand hovering over your Relto book. Better to accidentally link out than to get mauled before you can.

Yeah, ended up calling it off after I put up a trail cam and saw some BIG movements in the trees there. I like my suit, but the plate coverage isn't quite as good as I'd like in terms of "Oh god the teeth". XP
